Staff working at Haskins Garden Centre in Ferndown presented Poole charity Forest Holme Hospice with a cheque to mark their final donation, bringing their two years’ fundraising total to £10,455.97.
The green-fingered team at Haskins nominated the hospice in 2014, to receive two years of charity support from its staff. The fundraising total also included money from bucket collections and stalls at the Centre, as well as ‘gifts in kind’ such as garden plants and a bird table.
Simon Hallam, centre manager at Haskins’ Garden Centre said: “All the team at Ferndown were really enthusiastic when coming up with creative ways of fundraising for the hospice and we are so pleased that we managed to raise such a large amount for the charity.
“Forest Holme Hospice is a place which is close to many peoples’ hearts locally and we hope that our donation was fruitful in helping to make a different to its patients.”
Hannah Parsons, fundraising manager at Forest Holme Hospice, said: “The support shown by Haskins Garden Centre has been very valuable to us over the past two years. The money raised has helped patients and their families during the most difficult time of their lives. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff and customers for their wonderful contribution to local hospice care.”
Forest Holme Hospice aims to enhance the quality of life for patients with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. The charity requires £500,000 in voluntary donations each year to ensure that it can continue to be a centre of excellence for specialist end of life care in Poole, Wimborne and the Purbecks.
Haskins Garden Centres are located in Ferndown in Dorset, West End in Southampton and Roundstone and Snowhill in West Sussex.
